Why does my (replacement) window in my car want to go sideways when it goes up and down?

I got it put in, its the same size, same as the other window, and its on track and everything, only when I make it go up, it wants to get caught and go sideways or something. Its completely on track though. Any advice?

  1. year? make? model?

  2. Did you replace the Bailey channels? These are the felted channels the window slides in.

If they are in good condition or new, they still need adjustment at their mounting points in the door.

Once properly adjusted, you should have no further problem.

  3. It may look on track although the window actuator and internal window runner will need to be adjusted.

Trust me I have done a few of these and it can be a pain in the *&^.

Take it back and get them to adjust for you.

    Cheers

  4. Its sounds like you might have a GM product. There are window guides on the top rear of the window (sedans). It sounds like one of these is missing or wore out. Was it a qualified person who replaced the window? More details, make or model would be helpful for a proper answer.

  5. some vehicles have small plasic clips hat fit into holes in the glass which hold the glass straight in the tracks(1988 pontiac grand am for example) these clips are available for less than $1.00 each from the dealer.
