How do I replace a driver side window and door lock of a 2000 Neon?

My husband broke the window mechanism, and last week broke the lock so it doesn't catch. We have both replacement parts but don't want to spend $100 to have someone else do it. Is this something we can do ourselves?

  1. Use a rag or flat piece of metal inside the window handle to dislodge the retainer pin (may be easier with a flat piece of metal), then wiggle the door nob off. Take off the couple retainer clips at the sides of the door, and basically lift the door panel off the actual door. Inside you can easily get to the locking mechanism, and get pretty easy access to the window, all of which is pretty self explanitory once you are in there.

  2. Honestly.. If you dont kno much about cars... Do not try to fix it.. Take it to a repair shop

  3. Yes, you will have to take the door panel off. be careful not to strip the screws. some are hidden behind some plugs. then you will have the motor for the window exposed. be sure to be careful when the motor is off not to let the window drop, it could chip and break. the door lock is self explanitary. good luck. I just got mine up last week. mine is electric .

  4. gp buy a chilton book and it will tell u how to fix it step by step
