  1. Yes atleast for another 6 months until they get out dated and what not. screen could be bigger

  2. you need both creative is good sound and nvidia or ati reardon for graphics

  3. yea the specs are good, you didnt state how many gigahertz it had tho. But it's probably good as well based on everything else. The graphics card isnt really important unless you plan on playing games on it, but the one it comes with is probably decent. Just stay away from GeForce MX4, my laptop came with it and it doesnt support pixel shading, so i cant play alot of games. Don't worry about the sound card, based on the other specs it is probably good.

  4. Looks like good specs. You will at least want a video card to help with memory usage (on board is always shared). Sound would be nice, but not essential for your purposes unless you just plain want better quality sound when using your laptop as a tv. You sure that HD will be large enough? Are you going to be saving media files to it, or going directly to DVD with them. It sounds like a lot, but can fill up fast with media.

The only other thing I would add is, we are sticking with XP here. XP Media Center is a good OS. If it is available as an option, you may want to consider it. Vista is still a bit buggy. Our local builders are still selling more XP machines than Vista.
