Need hardware computer help?
I have a Dell Inspiron 700m notebook computer and the hard drive died. I recently purchased the replacement hard drive, but I haven't been able to install Windows XP on the new hard drive from the CD. Every time I try to install Windows XP, either the computer turns itself off or it resets itself when it is at the Windows Setup Screen. What could be causing this problem?? It's a new hard drive so I don't understand the problem.

- Looks like you have another fault. Laptops normally shut down like that when they are overheating, or when the battery is flat/not taking a charge. You might have to take the laptop to be repaired.
