Removing a picture from the startup/shutdown of my pc

There is a picture that comes up from a previous owner of this pc at the startup and shut down. It is after the windows xp logo and the welcome page. It is before the wallpaper. It is not the little icon for a user. It is full screen and appears for a about 10 seconds before the wallpaper and icons come up. It also appears right before shutdown. This picture is not a replacement for the xp logo screen. Every answer in previous attempts to get help directs me to change the windows logo screen. This is not the issue. I am computer novice so any help would be great. Thanks

  1. Hey

First: Go to start button(windows button on left bottom) click it.Go to programs option(just highlight it do not click it).It will be there when you click start button.

Second:On highlighting the programs option you will see startup option,

Third:Move the cursor and click on it there you will see the picture name that the previous owner has put up.

Fourth:Right click it and delete it.If you want to delete from computer than delete it from the recycle bin.

Fifth:Restart you PC and it will start without that picture.

    EDIT:

    Hi

The easiest fix would be to use System Restore . This should return the system to the settings the computer had prior to his wishful-thinking background download.

Should that not sound like a wonderful idea, or there aren't any restore points back quite that far, or too many program changes made since, etc. . . .

    1) See if msconfig is blocking things from loading.

    2) Figure out if they should or shouldn't load after all (the Startup List at sysinfo.org is good for this --- http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php --- the one at AnswersThatWork is useful too --- http://www.answersthatwork.com/Taskl...s/tasklist.htm ---)

    3) Manually remove any that shouldn't be starting --- by changing their startup behavior in 'Options' or 'Preferences', or by editing the .ini file(s) they are called from, or by removing their startup entries from the "Run" keys in the Registry (usually HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run --- for more info, see --- http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php

    4) You should now have a normal startup.

    5) Set your Background in Display settings to None.

    6) Set your ScreenSaver in Display settings to None.

    7) Run a Registry Cleaner -- I recommend CCleaner for this sort of thing --- http://www.download.com/CCleaner/300...-10315544.html --- it is, in fact, the only Registry Cleaner I trust. Run CCleaner until it reports "no issues found" (in its "Issues" function). Let it clean up the temp files, too, with the "Cleaning" function.

Either of these methods should remove any leftover flash-by desktop images. You can then add any backgrounds or screensavers back in as you'd like.

    Best of luck
