Approximately how much should each replacement windows cost?

I understand the different qualities and companies will vary in cost, but what is a good estimate to work off for replacement windows? I've got 16 normal size windows that need to be replaced.

1. The prices range. If you are doing the work yourself go to Lowes or Home Depot. If you are paying someone else the going rate was about $200 a window last I checked.


2. It really depends on where the window is being installed.Is it brick,are the old windows nailed on from the outside?Are they wood windows?You can buy cheap windows from Home Depot or Lowe's,but you do get what you pay for.If the seal fails ,well good luck getting either store to back up the product.Go to a local lumber yard that has been in business for a while and ask them for window pricing.You will find you get a better product for the same price as the big box stores.


3. i went to home depot and got american craftsman windows.....i did alot of research and asked aronud too and this was the best window for the money....they cost me $148 each plus tax of course but i put them in myself as they as really simple...and i live in a brick house and it was still simple......after i did 2 or 3 i got to where i can change the winodw out and put the new one in and paint and caulk it in under 40 mins =).....so if u have mechanical abilities do it urself....4 screws and a little caulk thats it


4. Call around, the window contractors give free estimates. I paid $12,000 for 18 windows, installed, 3 custom widows included, plus they wrapped the outsides of the frames and have lifetime warranty. Very pleased.
