can I deduct the price of replacement windows on my 2007 taxes?
I replaced half the windows in my home and I'm wondering if there is any way to deduct the price of the windows

- No, but you may qualify for an energy saving credit if the windows meet certain criteria. See the IRS rules.
- You will not get a credit for the full price of such an energy improvement but you will get a percentage of the money back in the form of a reduction of the taxes you owe. The IRS has a formula that applies to such things.
- You can take a residential energy credit for a portion of the cost. The maximum credit you can get is $200. Use form 5695.
