can I deduct the price of replacement windows on my 2007 taxes?

I replaced half the windows in my home and I'm wondering if there is any way to deduct the price of the windows

  1. No, but you may qualify for an energy saving credit if the windows meet certain criteria. See the IRS rules.

  2. You will not get a credit for the full price of such an energy improvement but you will get a percentage of the money back in the form of a reduction of the taxes you owe. The IRS has a formula that applies to such things.

  3. You can take a residential energy credit for a portion of the cost. The maximum credit you can get is $200. Use form 5695.
