Suggestions on Good Windows for a house?

My wife and I entertaining the idea of replacing all of the old 70's windows with a good qualtiy window. We spoke with HomeDepot who, for 14,000.00, would replace all our windows. The window they showed was impressive, however, I am not convinced I need to pay that much for a good qualtiy window replacement. We have 20 windows total, with a specific room having 4 by 10 single pane glass ( 4 total). These would break out to two or three windows in each bringing the total to twenty. Any thoughts on where I can find comparable quality but a reasonable price? Thank you, Adam Williams Deridder, La

  1. Are these double or triple glazed?

I would also try Loewe's and some of the window manufacturers, like Marvin and Anderson.

How about some of the local contractors, who you'll probably want to install these. They should have good purchasing power, and thereby the ability to get good prices.

I would also check on the Internet. For that kind of money you want to be sure you get the best, at the best price.

  2. That's a tough one. It's been my experience that Home Depot prices are hard to beat. But $14K does sound a bit high for 20 windows. Go to another Lumber yard, ask if they can recommend anyone.

  3. We just replaced our windows and we used the Simonton by Norandex. They were referred to us by our contractor and other people in the area. To early to know how we will like them but they seem really nice and we got a good deal on them.

    Good luck!

  4. You have a company right there in Louisiana by the name of Mayfair. I`m quite sure their prices will be less than HD.
