Windows replacement problem with contractor?

I lived in California. I replaced the windows of my house with new double-pane window last September. I made the purchased through HomeDepot who contracted out the installation to 3rd party contractor. My window installation overall went well. However, there are 3 windows having problem with trim poping up. I noticed the problem the date of the installation. The installer said he will put a note in the acceptance paper and talk to their office and get back to me. They never got back to me and stopped answering call. HomeDepot discontinued the installation relationship with this contractor later (nothing to do with my case). I took the photo of problems and went back to HomeDepot to ask the guy sold me the windows. I was passed to install department. A manager said he needs to order new trim first. Once it arrives, he will give me a call. So far, there is still no one calling me. When I called him, he won't give anything specific. Please advice what should I do to have my problem fixed.

  1. Several errors where made in this operation:

1] you went to Home Depot

2] you went to Home Depot

3] you went to Home Depot.

I would hire a good contractor and spend the money its gonna require to fix these problems (and I'm reasonably certain there are others), then try to get remuneration from either Home Depot or the installer (depending on with whom you signed the contract).

There is a reason Home Depots installed sales are so cheap, and you just found out the hard way why.

  2. If you no longer live in California, what's the problem?

  3. Send a letters stating your problem to:

    Frank Blake CEO

    Craig Menear

    Executive Vice President, Merchandising

    Carol B. Tomé CFO

Bruce Merino, Senior Vice President - Merchandising Services and President - EXPO Design Center

Brad Shaw, Senior Vice President - Corporate Communications and External Affairs

I did it and got called from a Corp Rep and they took care everything didn't have to pay a dime. i even had a guy come out and inspect it before and after the job was done.

make sure you give the store number and name of people you spoke with.

  4. Jeffrey forgot

    4. went to home depot

    5. went to home depot

Did anyone from home depot actually come out and see the windows? my guess would be no. your best option would be to have a qualified installer come out and see what the problem is with the trim. I think it probably just needs to be installed properly.

  5. When you have these type of situations, you MUST keep going hire up. This will eventually get taking care of because of your persistence. Do not hire anyone else to fix their problems. They don't want anymore bad press, so I would go straight to the store manager.
