Back window of car smashed?

It is on a lift gate and has windshield wiper mounted on it, plus the heating and alarm system lines were routed that way. Also, glass was tinted. Will insurance pay to install all this back to original equipment condition or will they try to down grade it? Today being Sunday, cannot get ahold of repair shop but they will come tomorrow to my house. Do they just have glass replacement in stock? it is a chrysler pacific, it that matters. Also, is it safe to drive or can I drive it to get to work if it takes days to order parts? I taped it up of course, with garbage bags and ducttape. I keep checking it cause it is raining like heck, even hailing earlier.

  1. I think insurance will cover it depending on the type of coverage that you have. If this happened in an accident, then your collision insurance will cover. If it happened due to weather or while the car was parked and you were not driving it, then it falls under comprehensive insurance. Many people do not carry comprehensive insurance to save money. Also, its likely that you will have to pay a deductible, depending on your insurance coverage. Usually comprehensive will restore your car to working condition.

  2. The insurance company should pay enough to replace it back to the way it was. You need to get several estimates tomorrow and they'll pay the lowest. As for driving it, you'll probably get pulled over by the police since it's obstructing your view. Ask the insurance company if they can provide you with a rental while it's being repaired.

  3. Yes,your insurance will pay for it under comprehensive. You will owe the shop for the deductible.

Yes,it is safe to drive.Your outside mirrors make it legal.

No,it won't harm anything to drive it.

You don't need estimates, the glass repair shop works it out with your insurance and does the billing.

Your vehicle will be restored to it's original condition with parts that may take 48 hours to obtain
