I have asked a similar question that you can review at: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080111154643AAjePFv&r=w ....but THIS question is different as I want to know if YOU HAVE HAD YOUR OWN WINDOWS REPLACED or if you work for a firm that manufactures windows. TELL ME A BRAND. Be specific on why you are happy or not happy with your windows. If you are comfortable mentioning it, how much did you pay (or how much do you charge if you are a manufacturer). This is an expensive proposition for me, and nothing is better than testimonials. Not to sound rude, but if you haven't had your windows replaced or don't manufacture windows, best save this space for someone who has/does. Thanks in advance for all of your kind assistance.
Pella
Very Happy
They are top-quality windows. Quite expensive but well worth it and will once increase in value
I got the low-E windows, which let in light but not the summer heat. I almost never need to turn on the air conditioning.
This is fine during the summer but not in the winter when I would appreciate a little heat from the sun.
When I win the lottery, I am going to get "winter windows" with plain glass for the south side of the house.
In the summer, the south side of my house is always in the shade, so I really do not need the low E windows there.
(Just something for you to consider)
I do not know the name of the manufacturer. Is it on the window someplace? Maybe I could call the lumberyard where I bought them, if you would like me to.
Another caution. Some of the windows were not properly caulked by the guys who put them in. I had to do this part of the job. Just be sure you check around all of the windows, inside and out, before winter.
We are in KY now. The previous owner had the windows replaced with Pella and they are fantastic! They are wood windows w/ vinly on the outside.
They are expensive, but well worth the investment. My friend installed new siding and windows. Her and her husband researched windows. They bought what they thought were good ones; the springs broke also.
Why not go to Home Depot and ask they people in that dept. They can tell you the feedback they have heard from customers. Good Luck.
