what brand of replacement windows ranks the best?

- i forgot the name, but there's one that's unbreakable, cannot break if you shoot it, and it's really cool. but i bet it's very expensive.
- I think Pella or Anderson windows are the best, but I like the wood frame windows the best. I included links for each company. Hope these give you some ideas. Good luck.
- For replacement windows you only replace the sashes and box units work the best.A good resonably priced window is the Accu-Weld double hung vinyl. Many independant hardware and building supply houses carry this brand. You measure each window (to allow for settling in older homes do each window indivually in inches and fractions.)Measure inside the frame that the sashes fit into. The windows should be ordered 1/4 inch smaller (height and width) to allow for an easy yet tight fit when installing.they are held in place with pre-fitted screws on each side, caulk and weatherstripping all around.Around $150-$180 per window and a lifetime warranty even against breakage.Loe E glass is also available for a small upcharge.Well worth it.
- I installed some Jeld Wen windows this past fall and they are pretty good. As for being the best, it all depends on what you are looking for, my wife and I were looking for energy efficiency, looks, and cost. (we have odd sized windows being an older home so everything is always special order) Look for Low E glass, look at how they install, look at how clean they will keep, and look at cost. I wanted to go with Andersen Windows being that they are a Minnesota company(where I Live) but for comparable windows they were fifty dollars more a window.
