Any good ideas on making a window frosted or privacy?

My house is very old 80-90 yrs. I cannot replace the window with a modern replacement without changing all of my windows which is a bunch due to historical society restrictions. The window is second floor but in a shower and privacy would be nice. I have already tried the stick on vinyl stuff from Home Depot with no luck.

  1. they sell it in a spray can too, it lasts awhile but eventually needs to be re-done. easy to apply. easy to remove.

  2. what about something like mirrored window tint? Although on the second floor that could be tough . . . is the shower big enough to somehow rig another shower curtain over just the window??

  3. I had the bright idea of spraying 2 of my bathroom panes with this a couple of years ago, unfortunately this has blistered and peeled (presumably because of the moisture).

Last year, I decided to remove it and respray but no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the left on pieces off. I had to scrap the junk! It was awful.

I replaced it with the window film ~~ it has worked nicely! The window film I purchased looks like stained glass and looks much better too!

  4. Are you talking about Artscape film? They have other stuff too but I've had success with the Artscape.

They have beautiful colors and patterns too. I have odd sized window and it works and looks beautiful. Everyone loves it. Trim to fit...$19ish.

I have one floral stained glass window and one bamboo stained glass window (all Artscape).

  5. You could acid etch the window or you could buy a translucent film and apply it to the window.
