My contractor has quoted $2500 for Marvin wood replacment windows for my home. Measurments 28x60 for two, 40x60 for 1 and36x59 for two others. Doesn't include installation. How much should it cost?
REPLACEMENT windows are usually custom ordered to fit inside the jambs and sill of you existing windows. No interior wall or siding carpentry needed.
New Marvin windows can be expensive because they are WHOLE windows. Often stainable wood interiors with vinyl cladding on the out side and can range between $350 and $700 per window depending on the size.
If you requested this type of window, then he is a little high but not too bad, but wait until you see the labor charge for replacing whole windows!
If you just need replacement windows, ( white vinyl inside and out, then you can get them for half the material cost and half of the labor cost.
28 x 60 = 2'4" x 5'0" window unit.......= $200.00 ea.
40 x 60 = 3'4" x 5'0" window unit.......= $ 250.00 ea ( odd size)
36 x 59 = 3'0" x 59" window unit........= $ 225.00 ea. ( odd size)
r these wood or vinyl...i am assuming because of the sizes that they r vinyl.....if wood add $50.00 per unit stated above...to install would run u about $ 150.00 per unit to remove old and install new .......
tip: tell him u will buy the windows and he can just supply the labor and watch him back up!

In SE michigan I am having vinyl wallside windows installed for $3850 for all of them.
Of course these aren't as well built as your marivn windows, but they should be good for our extreme weather
