dell 640M/E1405 screen problem?

i have a dell 640M/E1405 laptop that needed a new screen replacement..this is the screen i bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370439651922&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT the problem is, there is no backlight...i can see an image on the screen, but the screen is very dim...i thought the problem is the power inverter, so i ordered the same one as the old one and still get the same problem...i connected a vga cable from the laptop to my tv and i get and image on the screen (windows starting up, windows desktop)..could anyone with some knowledge on computer repairs help? like some ideas or whatever...Thanks in advance..
