  1. You need to remove the trim on the inside of your window and measure the opening to the studs, n ot the window frame. This is called the rough opening.

  2. you can do that....but provided its not the window in your toilet or bathroom or the one which comes in contact with water.

    otherwise marine plywood sheet is the best option to to replace n modify window positions. you can give various types of finishes too to the window
