- Why is this question in auto? Well i work at a glass company in canton ohio called the glass house, No a single piece of glass cant be replaced on a thermopane window. The local glass shop can order you a whole new thermopane. Im assuming your telling me that you have a broke piece of glass and directly behind that is another piece of glass thats not cracked or or anything, thats a thermopane. Call your local glass shop and have them come give you an estimate. Make sure you ask about the warranty that comes with the thermopane from the manufacturer. We give a customer a seven year warranty on the thermopane fogging up. And no the sashes on a vinyl window are not welded unless its a cheap A$$ junk window. And the rubber seal that goes around the inside outide of the thermopane is only a weatherseal, it doesnt hold anything together. Theres a glue or some sort of bonding agent with a metal spacer filled with little moisture absorbent beads. To remove the window there are vinyl stops on all 4 side of the window u need to pry out.. then run a utility knife all around the outside of the window between the glass and the vinyl to cut the tape loose. the window should pop out now. take it to a glass shop and tell them to order you a new one. Its cheaper that way but most people cant do it by thereselves
- you probably need to replace the sash, most vinyl windows are welded and can't be pulled apart. you can remove the sash and take it to your local ace hardware store some can be replaced they can tell you. if they can't you'll have to order a new sash from the window manufacture
- you should be able to replace it. some of them has a rubber that goes around them. take it out and the pain should come out.
- I would not recommend doing it yourself unless you have a history of doing similar projects, this is not an easy DIY task.
Before you proceed I recommend checking out this complimentary e-book on replacement windows as it has a lot of information that will help you get started.
