Including installation I was quoted $4500. Is this low end or high end? Windows are energy star rated with low e and ufactor below .30 and average size of double hung are 30x 55.
You said you had windows with a U-Value of .30 or less. If you want to get the 2009 Energy Tax Credit, you’ll need windows with a U-Value AND a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of .30 or less. Both numbers have to meet the .30 requirement to qualify you for the credit. You can see this on the NFRC label on any window. Make sure to save this label for your tax records. You’ll also need an itemized receipt .The credit is only for 30% of the cost of the product, not the installation.
