I got quotes on both for double hung energy efficient vinyl windows and they were close in price with FELDCO being a tad more pricey. I was expecting Pella to be more because of it reputation so maybe I am missing something here. Are vinyl windows by Pella considered to be still good? Is Feldco actually better? Anyone with experience with either windows?
There have been thousands of window manufacturers start up and then go out of business after a few years. What happens is they sell a ton of windows, then they either have problems in manufacturing or warranty. Not having the capital to finance the defective products, or the changes to the manufacturing equipment - they either just shut down the company or change the name a little. Either way all the previous owners of these windows are out of luck.
The only reason they are higher price is the salesman is trying to imply that they are a much better window than Pella. Don't believe that for a second.
I know they tout a non-pro rated warranty, or lifetime glass replacement for any reason, blah, blah, blah and so on.
Stick with a good sound company. Pella or Andersen, Peachtree, Hurd, Crestline. And I bet Feldco wants a bunch of money up front, which I don't think Pella will do to you.
