how much would it cost to repalce 8 standard windows--with moderate quality-- assuming there is no structural work needed to teh frame--just a routine take the old ones out-put the new ones in including windows and labor this would be a window of moderate quality---halfway between the most expensive and the least expensive at Hoem Depot.. there is not a specific window picked out yet-- we only know that we want mid level quality--not cheap--not expensive
$500- $600 per window for a new construction type window - Pella,
Andersen,Peachtree.
Replacement type windows are usually fit inside the old window frame. Usually you just need to remove the window stops. The interior trim stays on.
New construction type windows, requires you to remove the all the old window, including the trim, then install new trim - or re-use the old with some care.
Carefull measurements are needed for either type. With proper measurements and a good carpenter. A replacement type window can be installed, including removing the old window in about an hour or two.
For new construction type windows it takes about 3-4 hours to complete.
If you do the work yourself, and it is not all that hard, you can save yourself some big bucks. The measurement of a window is key.
If you think your up to it, go to Lowe's (Pella) and Home Depot (Cannot Remember Name) and they will have a "How to Measure" and follow it. I just finished 9 Pella's new construction, so I had to replace siding - but in the end it was gratifying and they look absolutely fantastic - and no air leakage at all. Good luck.
