I have 14 double hung windows that need to be replaced. All are twin (meaning 2 windows side by side). They are wood single pane. The sills need replacing too. When buying replacement windows, are the whole window and frame (and sill) replaced? I'm looking for vinyl replacements, low e, low solar gain, double pane. I had one estimate of $8200! Dang. That was a lot more than I expected. I've priced the ones at Home Depot and for my size he quoted me a price of $200 each (Not including installation). This whole window replacement thing is really confusing. Thanks for any and all help!
Marvins, in my eyes, are the best windows on the market. You'll pay for them, but to me it's worth it. When I built my house 5 years ago, I spent almost as much on windows as I did on framing lumber. There are much cheaper windows out there, but these will pay for themselves relatively quickly with the difference on your heating/cooling bill. Hope this helps.
