How much will it cost to Replace Windows?

I am thinking about replacing all the windows in my home. my house is 77 year old home. The windows are all original to the house so needless to say they are not effective. can anyone give me a round about cost of replacement? do they charge to dispose of the old windows or can i do that? is is a project that we could do our selves?

  1. I got some estimates on windows for my house, I have 12 windows and the estimates were between 3500-7000. If your house is old, i would recommend paying someone to do it. Or just try to replace 1 small window and see how much of a pain it is. Then determine from there. Good luck!

  2. 8,234 $$

edit** i dissagree with brat and i stick by my estimate $ 8,234 $

  3. Decent energy -star rated replacement windows run in the $200 range depending on size. You are looking at about $125 each for standard installation, Any changing of opening sizes will increase the price.Since the trash guy probably wont take the windows-you need to have the installer get rid of them for you. Most but not all guys include dumping -ask- If you know people that are skilled you may be able to do it yourself. The most important part is to get accurate measurements as most places make the windows and wont eat your measuring mistake. Don't buy cheap windows, Energy -star is a must and you may get a tax break or incentive from your utility provider.

  4. I can not believe these answers. Come on fellas. There is no way that we can give you an estimate as to what it will cost to replace your windows. Price on the windows are going to depend as to what size your windows are, if they need to be custom made, are you replacing the whole window or are you going with replacement windows, what style of window that you would like and if you want full screen or half screens and we also need to know as to how many windows are in your home. Have someone measure your windows for you then you can take the measurement to Home Depot/Menard's/Lowe's. This way you can tell them what you want and they can give you an estimate as to what it will cost you to purchase the windows. Estimates are free and you do not need to purchase the windows when you get the estimate. Price for labor will run you about what the cost of the windows are. Yes the contractor will charge you to haul the other windows away and yes you can dispose of the windows yourself if you want. This will save you some money. If you know what you are doing yes you can do it yourself. Especially if you use replacement windows.
