My brother recently broke a window at his highschool, accidentally. There are about 50 witnesses to this as it was in a locker are at the end of a lunch break. My brother has offered to cover the cost to replace the window. The window did not have safety film so the cost, according to average prices should have been around AU$300. The school originally accepted this offer. However, they are now deciding to charge him for glass with film, as they want to replace their old windows. This costs AU$450-$500. When he asked why this happened no one seemed to have a good reason. what legal rights do we have in this situation? We are willing to pay for the original window. Oh and it is a private school...if that makes a difference.
Tell them to get lost, they are taking the p#ss
