Hi I live in Calgary Alberta And to make a long story short My dad pissed me off And he hate hockey So I was about to smack him from behind with my hockey stick Then I did not want to get in trouble And as I was still angry I smashed the room door And now it has a crack, very noticeable, not good I am fifteen by the way And I live in Calgary once again My mom don't mind it at all because it was my dad who was unreasonable So what now Where can I go find the replacement door of the same model How much will it cost Is it easy Or should I rather fix the door as it only has a crack, not split in half I am guessing that the door is hollow inside with cheap plywood with lined paperboxlike material with white paint on top I am only guessing So any suggestions Like where to go in Calgary Or any answers to my questions from above Or other solutions Please post them I need your help Remember, I broke a bedroom door, not the front door, window, ect
go to a local hardware store and buy a box of powdered wood filler, a couple of sheets of 120 grit sandpaper, hopefully the paint that's on the door now might still be available wherever your father stores it.
you'll also need a putty knife (a small scraper) to apply the wood filler.
you need to work somewhat fast when you do this project or the filler will dry out too fast before you get to use it.
start off with a small batch of wood filler mixed with enough water to make a paste like substance and then apply that substance to the door's cracked wood. read the directions on the box before you start. let that first batch dry a couple of hours so you can then get an idea as to weather or not you mixed it correctly. fold the sandpaper into half, then fold that half into half so now you have 4 separate pieces of sandpaper. gently sand down the fixed portion of the door that you just repaired till it's smooth with the rest of the surface. rub your hand over the fixed portion of the door to make sure it's nice and even. don't be sloppy when apply the mixture, the sloppier you are more more work you will have to do to repair the sloppiness. keep on doing this till the door is repaired. when all is correct repaint the door with 2 coats of paint. one coat will not do the trick. make sure you clean up all the dust that the sanding produces sweep then wipe with a damp cloth.
hope this is help-full.
good luck to ya.
