can you buy replacement doors for a newer manufactured home from a regular building supply?

my husband and I own a manufactured home we purchased in 2002...it has all the amenities of a regular home including insulation and tape and textured walls, but we keep hearing that when you own a mobile home you can't buy replacement doors or windows from anywhere other a mobile home parts dealer...door measurements are the same as those also sold at home depot so why can't we just buy it there and save money...mobile home parts dealer wants 400.00 for the same door we can buy at home depot for 150.00...

  1. Hello,

If the measurements are the same then install the regular door. They are building manufactured homes more like sight-built homes these days. These mobile home suppliers were getting rich and had the market cornered. Like I said if the measurement are the same go ahead and buy a door at Lowe's I found them having a better price on single interior doors. IF you do not have any luck a web-site below is a mobile home supplier but these guys can be dealt with when you call them. Good luck !!

  2. A door is a door. Buy one the same size in all dimensions as what you're replacing and there shouldn't be any problem. Just make sure you buy an exterior door if that's what you're needing. Interior doors aren't good for exterior use.

  3. Yes.The newer homes have about the same measurements. We have done this also, before.
