Does it matter whether I get vinyl or wood replacement windows as far as resale value when I sell in 3 years?

I like vinyl replacement windows versus wood replacement -tried of painting, staining, maintainence of wood. Is there a difference in perceived value when I go to sell the home to a new prospective buyer -whether its vinyl or wood? Thank you for your response.

  1. You know the old saying VINYL IS FINAL, go with the vinyl they are avaible in any colour, no matinence, a big selling point

  2. Vinyl all the way....buy good quality with a transferable warranty.

  3. In a higher end home the wood windows is worth it for a good selling point.Read the adds for homes for sale and they will say Pella or Anderson windows. It is a good selling feature.Plastic is good for wrapping sandwiches, not windows.

  4. It does matter which windows you install. If you are selling, get vinyl windows that are of good quality. I have used this company extensively over the years and they provide a very good quality vinyl window, and are nationally located.

  5. the value of the house(in your market) should indicate vinyl vs wood. The dollar difference will be large. There is a happy medium with a combo of both with a price point right in the middle. Do a little more research with a realitor, door & window companies.
