Window Replacement Process and Terminology?

I'm working on a short story and I was hoping some experts can clarify the process of window replacement. In the story, the main character will be watching workers on a lift carry a sheet of reflective glass for an apartment window. First off, is there a technical name for those lifts they ride to install a window from the exterior? Secondly, how do they fix glass into the frame from the outside? Do the workers themselves have a specific title? Any additional details would be appreciated. Thank you so much.

  1. The workers are called glaziers. They use a boom lift to install the framework, then the panes. Weatherstripping is installed on the frame, then the pane of glass is set in place and held with clips screwed into the frame. Another piece of weatherstrip or caulk goes on the outside, then the exterior frame is installed. Hope this helps.
