1993 Ford Aerostar XLT Window Replacement? The window on the passenger side of my van is broken out and I want to replace it but I don't know how. Is it easy or kind of hard, or extremely hard? I have a nice system in it and I don't want anyone stealing it. Also, I need to replace the brake booster. Is that hard either?
HOW DO I ORDER A RePLACEMENT SYSTEM RESTORE CD FROM DELL!? Yesterday I went to an office supply store with the intention of purchasing a new Windows XP virgin install for my computer. However, a very helpful tech-support employee told me that I can [in most cases] order a replacement System Restore disk from the company that made my computer [Dell]. He told me that I should go to the company's website and I could order one and just have to pay shipping and handling. But when I go there I had no idea how to find what I needed to order it. Does anyone know how I could go about doing this? [Im basically trying to restore the computer to its factory condition]
Having trouble gaining administrator permission/s to Windows/System 32 for a corrupted file replacement.? Upon startup, I am having an issue which includes the error [Do Open Pipestream/scrrun.dll]. Doing some basic research this morning, I've discovered that the scripting is corrupted and have downloaded a new "scrrun" to replace the existing one. However, I am having trouble moving the file to the folder due to administrator privileges (Vista is annoying). I have tried opening Properties/Security for the SYstem32 folder and modifying the priveledges allowed by users to no avail and with the repeated message "Access Denied" (even though I am logged as the administrator of the computer). How can I setup the folder to allow myself access to replace a corrupted file inside System 32? As I said, when attempting to change securities measures within it to allow file modification, I get a constant, irritating message reporting "Access Denied". I'm all out of ideas here. Help!

Can I use my Playstation 3 PS3 as a desktop replacement?? I'm a college student that uses my pc daily to browse the web, type paper and check email - that's it. I don't use my PC for gaming or anything that requires a robust system. I saw some pics of a PS3 running windows on the internet. Can I use a PS3 as a desktop replacement? Like I said, I don't need a powerful computer. I want to sell my desktop (3ghz dell) and buy a PS3 *IF* I can run XP on the machine as smoothly as my desktop.
Is it possible to get a replacement Windows XP installation disk? I brought a Dell laptop two years ago and now want to carry out a complete system clear. To do this I need the XP installation disk but I can't find it anywhere. Is it possible to get a free replacement. My dad also has a Dell PC which has Windows XP. He still has his installation disk so I'm also wondering if it's possible to use his disk on my laptop. It is there any reason why I can't do this. For instance will my PC detect it's not my disk or if I use the disk on my computer will that prevent my dad using the disk in the future on his computer?
How do I get into my mac if I have lost the password? My friend (honestly!) has precisely this problem and if it cannot be solved, which seems increasingly likely, where can a replacement Operating System be found? Similarly, I am looking for a Windows XP Pro cd. Any clues?
New Home Owner/Tax Deductions? I bought a home last year and so far I've put about $10,000.00 in it in improvements: a new high efficiency central air & heating system, vinyl replacement windows, and then your basic paint, paper, trim, etc. Is any of this stuff tax deductable? I know I can deduct my mortgage interest, but what else home related? Anything? lol

How do you set up a "2nd" hard drive? Hi. I got some bad news yesterday. My PC is ~ 5.5 years old, and the hard drive (HD) has developed "bad sectors." Apparently, whenever the HD operates and it "hits" a bad sector, it then "skips" and creates MORE of them... So, I bought a replacement hard drive last night. I'm somewhat computer literate, by the way (Minor in Computer Applications). I'm pretty sure that I can "copy over" my data files, with no problem. My questions are: 1. What about the "hidden" files? Do I try and click on "C:" and create a "mirror" of the drive, on my new E:? 2. How about installing the operating system (Windows 2k)? Do that from CDs? 3. Lastly, how do I let the computer / BIOS know, that once I have Win 2K up on my E:, that I want to use that as my start-up (I think "master") drive? Please be DETAILED, in your reply! Thanks a lot for any guidance you can provide! Kurt

Windows XP gave me an error installing Macromedia Flash Player? I got an error installing Macromedia Flash Player 6 on my computer. I downloaded it from a file sharing group. Windows said, "A file replacement was attempted on the protected system file swflash.ocx. To maintain system stability, the file has been restored to the correct Microsoft version. If problems occur with your application, please contact the application vendor for support." I couldn’t install Flash Player 6 because of this. What’s going on here?
Is there a replacement program to switch my Vista back to XP? I asked a question some time ago if anyone else was having a problem with Vista. All I got in response was no nobody had a problem with it as responses. When I ask people in person everyone says it sucks. Now I heard that Microsoft fired the entire Vista Development Department and will do away with the operating system because it is a failure. I don't know how true it is but I think if it is Microsoft should issue a credit for everyone that bought this system and does not like it to change it for XP. I think if Bill Gates stops trying to top Jobs with every little thing it would be nice. I believe both systems Windows XP and Apple are great except this is the first time I am extremely disappointed with Mr. Gates ego. All in all I would just like to say Vista sucks and if you like it good for you. Now does anyone know how I can get this piece of garbage off my computer and go back to XP which was operating fantastic in the first place.
Should I get the new macbook or macbook pro? I'm a programmer looking to get a new work machine to carry around. Currently I use a desktop replacement laptop but I'd like the option of being able to program and test in all the currently used operating systems (os x, linux, windows). So I need to get a mac. I don't care if it can play games (well, maybe a bit of WoW). So what would you recommend? The 2.4 ghz macbook or the base model macbook pro? Thanks.
Where can i get replacements files for the basic system files for windows XP SP2? I've messed around with some system files and deleted all the basic ones when i clicked a cmd file. Those missing are mainly the accessories such as calculator, paint, notepad and major programmes such as windows move maker and Outlook express as well as Internet Explorer (i've tried reinstalling IE but it still dosent work). The biggest problem now is that i lost core system files such as the windows login screen, task manager and whenever i click the shutdown (turn off computer) button, the computer will just hang and freeze at that page. Is there anywhere i can download and just simply replace those files or reinstall them without using system restore or reformatting etc?
System files replaced by Virus!? Like the title says, A Virus/Trojan overwrited my system files. I reinstalled Windows and now I want to know how can I restrict the replacement of system files? I know I could use a limited account but I wont be able to install software. Can anyone tell me how to restrict replacing system files (or FREE)
How can I test a new motherboard? I'm getting ready to build a computer. Right now I'm buying the various parts. I have everything except the motherboard and the Operating System. If I buy the mother board and not an operating system, is there some way for me to check the mother board to make sure it's functioning. If I order a mother board and it's "dead on arrival" (DOA) I have only 30 days to return it for a replacement. My question: Do I have to have an operating system (like windows xp) to install on my new computer before I can tell whether or not the motherboard is working? Seems Xenia is saying I don't need an operating system to check my components including the mother board. Is this correct? pt.....I don't understand what you mean "complete the circuit".....what circuit and where? Why would I need to "complete the circuit"? Help me out here. Explain a bit more....I mean lots more.
Hard drive replacement? I have my Sony PCV-RZ40CG desktop for several years with no problem. Recently, upon startup, it went to a screen saying something about a S.M.A.R.T system (which I never heard about in the past) and it was saying that the hard drive status was bad, and to back up/replace it... Well, I tried several different ways to back my stuff up to anouther drive, with the aid of a few friends who know this stuff, but with no luck. Now, I only want to replace my hard drive with a new one, just to get it working again, and I'm putting off data recovery until later, but I'm not sure which drive to get. The original was a WD 200GB IDE, any suggestions? Also, the computer came with no recovery disks, and when I first booted it, it wanted me to burn them myself... I was wondering, with the recovery disks I made, will I be able to reinstall the Windows XP Media Center Edition on the new drive? I really don't want to have to buy a new OS if possible. Ask if you have any ?'s, thanxx in advance. As far as ghosting, no, I was one of those people who figured "hard drive crashes won't happen to me..." Well, once I get it going again, I'm gonna do every data backup method I know of =] And the only reason I asked about if the recovery disks would work is because I tried to use them on my original drive, just to see if that would work, and it said that the recovery partition on the drive could not be read... which lead me to believe that the recovery disks require that of the original drive. Hopefully, I'll be getting a new drive tomorrow, and I guess I'll see then... I appreciate the help, and any other info you can give would be most appreciated. One last note, any suggestion of a good brand? I heard Maxtor is unreliable, and I personally don't want another WD, since just the day before it happened, it was in perfect working condition. Thanxx! As far as Safe Mode goes, sometimes when I try to start it, it will let me choose Safe Mode, last known good configuration, etc... I have tried all the options several times, and it never loads past that, after a while on the Windows XP screen, I get a blue screen saying that there was a physical memory dump (or something like that) and to get my administrator... which, unfortunately, is myself, haha. But yeah, won't even get to the logon screen, which is why I previously assumed the drive is just shot, and why I decided to just try to focus on getting it to work again for now. Thanxx for all the info everyone, I'm gonna try it out probably tomorrow or Tusday, and I'll rate it after I (hopefully) get it up and running.

The Windows Rejection Song? sung to the tune of The Rainbow Connection by Kermit Frog Why are there so many, users of Windows? Don't people have any pride? Windows is useless, and designed by morons, and Windows had got DOS inside. But some don't care and continue to use it. I know they're wrong, wait and see. Someday we'll see it, the Windows rejection, the users, and Bill Gates, and me. Who said that every bug, would be found but left there? It seems so strange and bizarre. Microsoft thought of that, and millions accept it, look what it's done, so far. What's so amazing are all the delays in the replacement for Windows 3. Someday we'll see it, the Windows rejection, the users, and Bill Gates, and me. All of us under its spell, we know that it's utterly tragic... Have you been not saving, and then torn your hair out, because of a G.P. fault? Is this the error, that occurs most often, and causes your system to halt? I've seen it too many times to ignore it, I think it is just s'posed to be. Someday we'll see it, the Windows rejection, the users, and Bill Gates, and me. la, da da, lee, da la loo, a, la, la la, la lee la roo!
How should I set up my partitions? This is my setup, I have three drives: 1. 74.55 GB IDE *can be set in RAID (Currently contains XP) 2. 232.88 GB IDE *can be set in RAID (Contains backup data) 3. 465.76 GB SATA 3 Gb/s (empty) I am looking where to set it up for the best performance. (RAID vs. all on the SATA) I am worried about is reliability. 74.55 GB has never failed 232.88 GB first one corruped Windows, got replacement 465.76 GB just got today, no idea on reliability What do you suggest for the best setup (partitions, what goes where, etc.)? I do want atleast 80 GB for XP (almost taking up that much currently) and a large solid chunk for data. *Also, I will try to install some other operating systems in the future so may need to shrink and resize certain partitions. **I have a 40 GB for temporarily putting Windows on if everything fails, but is noisy so will not be staying in my case. Also for that partition for future OSs, isn't there a way to resize a currently used partition (I believe if it is extended and not primary but not sure). Still undecided, please anyone else?
My Acer Travelmate 2420 Laptop DVD Rom Is Dying - Need Replacement!? My DVD-Burner in my laptop is crashing my pc consistantly, Laptop has a hard time even detecting the drive, you'd have to eject the tray, push it back in and hold it, and it would start up sometimes otherwise, upon use it would automatically be disconnected from windows, and the drive would disapear, (event viewer views the drive as being removed from the system) Is there a type of slim Internal DVD Burner im looking for? model, specs, design so it fits properly? connectors? wires? what am i looking for?
instead of replacing windows...? I'd like to replace the frames and add insulated glass panes along with the sides where the windows slide. Can someone tell me what this replacement system is called and a place to find more information? This will give me better insulated windows without tearing into the sheetrock around them. Seems much simpler but I'd like to have more info before settling on this system.

How do I install a new hard drive on my IBM X40 Thinkpad (while preserving the pre-installed Windows XP)? I recently purchased a (1) 60GB replacement mini hard drive (Lenovo Part No. 73P3358 )and (2) additional RAM (1GB PC2700 CL2.5 NP DDR SDRAM SODIMM; Lenovo Part No. 31P9834) for my Thinkpad X40 (2371HU1). This hard drive will replace the 40GB hard drive that came with my Thinkpad. My Thinkpad had arrived with Windows XP pre-installed by IBM/Lenovo. As a result, I was never provided with a disk for the operating system. I would be grateful for help with instructions for installing my new hard drive and RAM, such that I would be able to continue to retain my Windows XP operating system. Simpler instructions would be particularly appreciated. I am still quite new at this. Thanks.

Mac OS X on PC? I bought an HP Laptop recently, and found it is the perfect computer for me. I love everything about it and have had no troubles with the hardware. HP offered me more hard drive space, RAM, everything than Apple. However, I hate windows and think it is the worst operating system out there. Its too confusing and not at all user friendly. I dont want a Mac for a number of reasons, but when will apple make it simple and easy to run Man OS X on a pc, I know they made an HP iPod, so why not an HP Mac? By the way, what is an emulator, because ive heard that is the only way, but is it legal, and is it a replacement for windows or just to run both OS on the same computer. I want to wipe the computer clean and install all new operating system.
Where can I download the system sound files for Windows XP? I recorded new sounds to replace my log in and out sounds, the sounds for error messages, etc., and now I want to change them back, but cannot find where (or remember if) I backed them up at. I also am having trouble finding replacement downloads with google. Does anyone know where I can download these sounds? I am aware that the sounds are in the media folder. Those ones are the ones I saved over. I'm looking for somewhere to download the originals to put in THAT folder

How can I get this computer boot after replacing the hard drive? My friend's Win xp Pro SP2 computer's hard drive was dieing so I got him another used one with more storage. Fortunately, I was able to copy all the files on the old drive before it completely died which it did. I formated the replacement drive in NTFS just like the old one and copied the contents of the old drive over the the replacement one. The problem is that the new drive will only boot Windows with the help of a boot disk containing boot.ini, NTDETECT.COM, and ntldr. How do I get the new hard drive to boot by itself? I have tried using fixmbr and fixboot from the recovery console. Fixmbr says it writes a new mbr but the system won't boot. Fixboot can't find the drive so that doesn't work. To make matters worse I don't have the Windows XP disk so I can't do a fresh install. I am currently running the recovery console from the Windows XP setup disks I downloaded from Microsoft. Because the file system is NTFS Dos commands won't work. I have a backup of the old drive on my computer so reformatting the replacement drive again is not a problem. Can someone please help? I fixed the problem. Turns out the drive wasn't marked as active and therefore wasn't seen as bootable. I booted the system with the boot disk. Then, I went into Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Then from the menu I clicked disk Management, right clicked the drive and clicked Mark Partition as Active. System boots normally now so no, I guess you don't need to make an exact copy of a drive to get a bootable copy.
Which home improvements should i do to my house? We have an old 2 family house that needs alot of work. Our plan is to fix it up and then sell it when the market goes back up. I know alot of people say not to do huge expensive projects before sellijng because you most likely won't get all your money back. So I was wondering if, from the list below, someone could tell me which I should do and which I shouldn't: -insulation -Replacement windows (old, rotten wood windows there now) -Gas heating system (only gas on gas stove as heating source now) -Paint outside house (asbestos shingles now) -Gut out the bathroom and put new shower walls, tub and sink (mold now) -Remodel small kitchen area (counters and sink are extemely low, and counter rotting around edges, and mold now)

Back window of car smashed? It is on a lift gate and has windshield wiper mounted on it, plus the heating and alarm system lines were routed that way. Also, glass was tinted. Will insurance pay to install all this back to original equipment condition or will they try to down grade it? Today being Sunday, cannot get ahold of repair shop but they will come tomorrow to my house. Do they just have glass replacement in stock? it is a chrysler pacific, it that matters. Also, is it safe to drive or can I drive it to get to work if it takes days to order parts? I taped it up of course, with garbage bags and ducttape. I keep checking it cause it is raining like heck, even hailing earlier.
2008 Honda Civic Lx audio replacement? I have owned my 2008 Honda Civic Lx for about 4 months now. Love the car and cant say enough about it but the audio quality of the stereo is awful at times. The bass sounds as if someone is thumping a pillow against my back window. I am wondering if I can replace just the speakers with aftermarket ones or should I go all out and get an entirely new system. Not planning on blowing a bunch of cash on the project but any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks. I am aware of how bass should sound. The sound that the speakers make is a real harsh, rough tone. My wife's bose audio in her audi sounds much cleaner and less harsh.

How can I make my house completely energy independent? I live in the northeast (Western New York), in a well-developed suburban village. My gas and electric bills exceed $550.00 monthly, and I’m sick of it. It’s a big house, but it’s well insulated, and has 30 brand new double-pane argon-filled replacement windows. The house is about 3,500 square feet, and has a baseboard hot water heating system. Strictly because of my absurd and ever-increasing utility bills, I want to create an energy independent home, if it’s possible. Wind, solar, hiring trolls to peddle bikes in the backyard… whatever the answer, I’d love to hear from knowledgeable people as to whether this is possible, and if so, how it can be achieved. Thank you in advance.

Hard Drive Failure? I recently (2 weeks ago) bought a very expensive computer system with Windows Vista Ultimate pre-installed. One night I woke up to the sound of a very high pitched noise coming from the machine. It appeared to happen when the computer went to "sleep". A restart gives me the following message: "Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter". It now will no longer start. I managed to get it into safe mode once by using a windows disk. However soon after I was met with a blue screen and the following message: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL" I'm having trouble getting a replacement hard drive from the crappy manufacturer. Is there anything I can do or try in the meantime?
I have an older computer that runs Windows ME and I would like to "renew" the system.? Problem is, I bought it off a friend who no longer has the Windows ME disk and since it's a laptop(Toshiba Satellite 1750), it has a few other custom programs installed for that model. I'm most worried about getting a replacement copy of Windows more than anything else though since presently it is "clogged" from much use. All my data is transferred to my new computer. I can't seem to find anyone or anything on the internet to get the files or a copy of the disk from, and would like to keep this computer for auxiliary use. It is too good of a computer to discard. Any ideas?
What type of graphics card do I need for my Emachine? It appears the graphics card on my eMachine has packed up. Unfortunately I cannot get a replacement until I know I little more about the type I need. I cannot find any information in the generic handbook I received with the PC and I get no response whatsoever from eMachine support. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Windows XP shell problems.? A few days ago I installed an entire shell replacement for my Windows XP installation. However the shell replacement was a little quirky, for example accessing a folder's properties by right clicking on in caused a send error report to come up in it's place. However, before installing the shell replacement I took some precautionary measures. First of all I made a system restore checkpoint and secondly I backed up all my critical data. I have uninstalled the shell replacement but the quirky behavior still persists. I have rolled back to the system restore checkpoint, but to no avail. I am thinking about repairing my Windows XP shell by using the 'repair existing installation' function in the Windows XP CD. Will doing so damage program settings such as uTorrent and Outlook?
How do you make yahoo UR homepage when it somehow changed to MSN, and box to change is greyed out in IE Prop? I have gone into IE and gone to the general tab where you set your homepage and everything is greyed out and it will not allow any changes, also on that one tab, General, none of the rest, the "Apply" button is also greyed out ? what causes this? And does anyone know of "Hotfix", or any kind of fix. Also, I run xp media center, but when installing is shows up as XP PRO, Xp Pro did not come with the system, and when I am in control panel and hit add/remove windows components it ALWAYS ASKS FOR XP PRO, and will not accept XP media center. Has anybody else run into this? And no matter what type of virusware, spyware, firewall, and registry utilities I use, and defrag and clean disc often, I have to COMPLETELY REINSTALL, not restore or repair, almost once a week, and this is the replacement unit, and has already in four months had the cd/dvd rom drive replace twice, do I just have bad luck, or just blind to what could be causing all of this. I have an HP Pavillion dv8000, w/ AMD turio
