Can a landlord charge for a replacement of a window which was not broken? I will try to boil this down to the simple facts. A guest of ours accidently broke a window in the front our our building. We understand that under the terms of our lease that we are responsible for the cost to repair that window. However, the landlord is planning to charge us not only for the repair of the broken window, but for the replacement of another window which was not broken in the incident. Under what circumstances, if any can we be charged for repair of a window that was not broken by us?
SF Bay Area double-pane window replacement? How much is it for a typical installation of new double-pane windows to replace the old drafty ones? I live in a 30 yo condo and there's around 7 big windows, 3 small bathroom windows, and of course the patio door. Like everyone I want to save on my utility bills. Although I plan on doing this in the off season so for now a warm blanket and wearing warm clothes inside the house will do (I set the heater to 65 degrees and it'd almost keep blowing the whole day). I rent a house and the landlord refuses to cover costs from a burgulary? Whilst on holiday in spain over xmas the house i rent was broken into, ive had to pay £140 to have the window boarded and the cost of replacement glass, my landlord refuses to meet the costs and says i should have "renters insurance", is this not covered by the landlords buildings insurance ??
Apartment agent charged me $150 for replacement terrace door window glass without notifying me beforehand.? REside in NYS rent stabilized one bedroom unit. When i requested the terrace door window repair, the Agent did not tell me that i would incur a cost for the window replacement. My "Replacement Apartment Lease" states "..Tenant must , at Tenant's cost, make all replairs and replacements whenever the need results from Tenant's act or neglect. Owner's reasonable expense will be added to the rent." I did not cause the window crack, therefore i should not have to pay the exorbitant $150 for the window replacement. What proof does the Agent have to provide to me, the tenant, that the damage was caused by me? Can i request the window glass bill to determine if the $150 is a reasonable expense? Are rent stabilized tenants liable for all repair costs, if the Agent does not provide proper notification about repair charges?

Double Glazed Patio Window Cost? I recently accidentally smashed the outer glass panel on my double glazed patio doors. The panel measures around 6ft high by 3ft wide. I need your advise-Window and Central A/C replacement in 2007.? In Year 2007, I spent $3,000 to replace the windows and $3,500 to replace the central A/C. They had been replaced in order to improve the energy efficiency. And, now I have a few following questions about how to claim these expenditures on my tax return form (5695). (1) $3,000 includes the labor and window parts together. I have the invoice, but it doesn’t differentiate between the labor cost and parts. Do I have to differentiate between these two? My understanding is that only the window part is qualified for this credit while labor cost is not. (2) What is the maximum credit will I get? Am I going to get a credit of $200 for the window replacement and $300 for the central A/C replacement? In total, will I be able to get $500? Can I carry forward any unused amount into future years? Or, is this credit available only for the years 2006 and 2007? Your generous input is greatly appreciated.
When purchasing replacement windows and doors (in my case vinyl) does it pay to go expensive? The cost of high end replacement patio doors and windows is like 3-4 times as the ones you can by at Lowe's or Home Depot. If they last longer, wear better, they might be worth it, but I'm not a rich man, and if the differences are minimal, I don't want to shell out the big bucks. Broken window replacement? My brother recently broke a window at his highschool, accidentally. There are about 50 witnesses to this as it was in a locker are at the end of a lunch break. My brother has offered to cover the cost to replace the window. The window did not have safety film so the cost, according to average prices should have been around AU$300. The school originally accepted this offer. However, they are now deciding to charge him for glass with film, as they want to replace their old windows.This costs AU$450-$500. When he asked why this happened no one seemed to have a good reason. what legal rights do we have in this situation? We are willing to pay for the original window. Oh and it is a private school...if that makes a difference.

What IS it with replacement window companies??? Everyone wants to send someone to my house to "measure" before they give me any sort of price. I need only three windows - all the same size - and have the approximate measurements. Why won't someone simply give me an "approximate" cost over the phone without the need to make the infamous in-home appointment (taking up MY valuable off-work time!) so they can then try to sell me the more expensive model?
