How much would it cost to get Pella replacement windows for 14 windows? I want to get new windows and I hear that Pella is the best. I need 13 double hung windows and one picture window.
Which is better? Feldco vinyl replacement windows or Pella vinyl replacement windows? I got quotes on both for double hung energy efficient vinyl windows and they were close in price with FELDCO being a tad more pricey. I was expecting Pella to be more because of it reputation so maybe I am missing something here. Are vinyl windows by Pella considered to be still good? Is Feldco actually better? Anyone with experience with either windows?
Replacement home windows? Are Pella replacement windows good windows and are they east to install. All I ever see is white and dose this stand out to bad with darker trim.
Put in Pella replacement window. All square and plumb. When we raise window we hear a twang.? Something is hitting the balance cord. It is not the window side latch because we held that in when we opened it. Still a twang. Is there anything else in the metal balance mechanism that can cause the twang? What else should we check? Window opens smoothly otherwise. Thanks!
looking for opinions on replacement windows, Gilkey, Champion, or Pella? Hello, looking to buy replacement windows, considering Gilkey, Champion, or Pella, has anyone had these? opinions or impressions? Thanks
Does anyone have Anderson Replacement composite windows topped w/wood veneer? My husband and I are interested in replacing the original 1918 windows in our Craftsman. Keeping the double-hung look is important to us. So far, we've gotten quotes on a new construction (full insert) Pella window and replacement Anderson windows. The Pella windows, imo, look better. They are also thousands of dollars more. My question, is this: do you have the Anderson wood veneer replacement windows? If so, did you paint or stain them? How long have you had them? Does the internal finish hold up and still look good? I'm concerned about the durability of this thin, wood veneer.
how much is a reasonable price to pay to have one replacement window installed? i live in northern kentucky and im having my windows upstairs replaced with replacement windows. theirs a total of four. how much is a reasonable price for my area to have just one pella proline replacement window installed?
Any Personal Experience with Noise Blocking Exterior Replacement Windows? Help me find Noise Reducing Windows Most of the Windows in my house are 5x3 sliders. My #1 concern is noise blockage, but I know I don't want to pay a ton to modify my existing window opening (e.g. no interior window build out). I am not buying laminate (too much for too little) & I don't think using something like soundproofwindows.com (again, a window "additive") is what I want. Window "plugs" are also out. I need a real replacement window (Pella, Anderson, etc...) that blocks noise really well. My preference is vinyl. I also am concerned about the surrounding area around the windows where they connect to wall. Is there are good insulator, i.e. some kind of glue or foam? I don't want to overspend, but I am not afraid of trying something that is "new". I am looking for posts from people that have actually replaced their windows, not just internet search results that give information I can find myself. If you have PERSONAL EXPERIENCE with some kind of noise proof window replacement, please help me out. Good answers so far, I appreciate it. So far I have people that are happy with sears and a foreman who mentioned Milgard. Any other brand suggetions? Any new "trendy" concepts? Also, if you dont mind mentioning approx. cost, that would be great. Who do you work for Tru_blue, lol. Okay, Everything Tru_Blue mentioned about types of glass and the means for sound reduction is in line with what I have read online. That answers the technical aspect of what exactly aids in the reduction of sound. These are important aspects to cover when looking for new windows I agree. That said, I need some practical advice on where to get these types of windows at a reasonable price. I may have to ask that seperatly. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY OTHER PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ON WHERE TO BUY HIGH QUALITY REPLACEMENT REPLACEMENT REPLACEMENT WINDOWS THAT BLOCK SOUND WELL and have some of the techincal aspects/options listed by tru_blue? Again, personal experience is king.
Need help deciding on home replacement windows.? I live in Dallas Texas and am in the process of buying replacement windows for my home. Here is what I am deciding between and would love to get some insight form an epert or from others that have recently purchased windows.: 1. Fiberglass vs. Vinyl - Have been quoted Vinyl from Pella. Looks nice but more expensive. Are they worth the extra price (3k? Is it a better to have in hot temperatures? My house shifts so is on more flexable than Vinyl? Is Pella a good brand for Fiberglass? 2. If I was to look at Vinyl I have quotes from Home Depot (Simonton) & Lowes (Dakota and Pella). The Lowes rep. says that Dakota (out of Arkansas) makes a better vinyl product. Anyone know much about Dakota and how it compares to the others. Out of three which is the best? Simonton is about $2,500 more than Dakota. Is it worth the price? Any experience with buying from Home Depot or Lowes. Thanks!
Manufacturer names of vinyl replacement windows? I am looking for a brand of vinyl replacement window and I can't remember what it is. It is not Pella or Anderson.
Window grills for old windows -? We recently moved into a house with old casement replacement windows. The windows have no window grills (what looks like it used to hold window panes in place). I don't know the brand of the window (anderson, pella, off brand etc) and was wondering if anyone knew of a place to purchase some that we could even just glue in - it looks so bad from the curb without them. Thanks!
Window Replacement Which brand and When? I Am planning to replace old windows with new energy star ones. Which brand is more relible Pella or Anderson and when is the cheapest time to do them. Any suggestions would be great, I live in Brooklyn NY.
Where can I get a Certainteed replacement window? I have Certainteed double hung windows in my house. One side of the bottom sash got cracked and I had it repaired at a local hardware store. It's drafty and I would like to buy another window so that I could replace the leaking sash. I can't find the Certainteed brand at any home center. Lowes carries Pella windows and Home Depot carries American Craftsman or Energy Star windows. I don't need to hire a contractor to get me a window that I'll just be using to replace the bottom sash. There's a sticker on the sash that says: 016233 Wardmar C0. 14 UNIT size: 32.500 x 60.00 Glass size: 26.438 x 00.000 x 27.125 Balance: 408S Mfg Date: 6/13/91 Mfg: Simonton Bldg Pro Would it be possible to buy another manufacturer's window and replace the bottom sash with that?
thermastar windows? We are buying replacement windows for 10 windows soon. I am extremely thorough in researching info. and trying to compare apples to apples etc. However, someone just told us to try Lowes Thermastar. By adding low e and argon gas... I think may be good product for the price... but skeptical as I know it is Pella's lowest line of replacement windows and can't seem to find reviews on them. I have had several estimates and I think they would save us close to 1000$ on 10 windows compared to others. Anyone gone with Thermastar, and if so happy so far? Such a headache...I know there are better choices out there, but would be happy if they lasted the 10 years, for the cost savings now as we need to do something now assuming they perform as intended. Any thoughts ideas etc. would be greatly appreciated. Over the wknd realized need new dryer and p.c...so in 3's it happens. Need to do all before baby 2 arrives. thank you in advance for time!
Who is the best company to go with when considering vinyl replacement windows? Pella? Feldco? Home depot? I live in the midwest and am looking for new energy efficient double hung windows. Feldco is popular here. I am aware of Pella , home depot, andersen windows. Anyone with experience with any of these brand windows?

These skylight are not cheap, they are 18 years old and we have had a roofer come in and reflash and redo roofing 2 squares around the window, sealed , reflashed everything, and they still leak, from where we do not know.......Pella says for windows that old they may /may not have replacement parts, we are going to get the roof redone anyway......whats the best way to proceed/ ripout and have to redo the interior or replace
Repairing/replacing old Pella window cranks? On a six unit apartment building, converted from church to apartments about 20+ years ago, the Pella window crank 'male' part has all the teeth worn off. The crank was installed and then the wood window frame was installed around it. I have tried to drill through the crank and insert an an expandable "shim" (may be wrong word). Even with "hard steel" drill bits, it only makes a tiny dent. There are about 55 cranks that need to be repaired or replaced. I have contacted a Pella dealer, but they do not sell just the parts; they have to do the work too. They quoted me $90.00 for a 18" x 48" screen replacement!! I feel that there should be a way to replace just the male part and then put a standard handle on it. I'm a dyi landlady and have not won the lottery to pay that kind of money. There are about 55 cranks that need to be repaired or replaced. I have contacted a Pella dealer, but they do not sell just the parts; they have to do the work too. They quoted me $90.00 for a 18" x 48" screen replacement. (That's was $39 for the screen and $50.00 for shipping).Pella does not sell the screen frame for dyi and they have a different screen/frame connection.
Does anyone know if skylights are a part of the roof or are they considered windows? The management company that manages our condo wants to replace the roof on the four units where I live. The said many different reasons why they want to change the skylights two of them are 1. flashing not available in right size 2. contractor won't insure roof. My husband talked to the contractor and they said they gave prices on doing the roof with and without replacement of the skylights and they would rather not replace them. The skylights were put in by the builder in 1988. I am wondering if skylights are considered windows or are they a part of the roof. My management company is telling me that the skylights are considered windows and I am responsible for them. In the by laws, nothing is mentioned about the skylights and the roofs are supposed to be replaced free with our monthly fee of $350. The by laws do say that the windows are my responsibility and honestly I would rather replace the windows then the skylights. Another owner of a condo where I live had her skylight replaced and it leaked afterwards which makes me worry. The management company has done things wrong many times but I am told they are like God or the President and I have no say. I can't believe I own a condo and I have to get my great quality skylights replaced by probably a contractor who doesn't even insure the breakage of anything in my condo. . We have really good skylights manufactured by a company that is called the Pella of the Midwest. I have tried my best to advise the mgm. co. and the board of directors that I do not want new skylights as the ones we have are just fine. I just received a letter telling me that the contractor wants to enter our condos and put down tarp for up to 7 days while they are replace the skylights and the roof. I am terribly worried that they are putting cheap skylights in place of the ones we have. It seems like our mgm. co. tends to do things that are not needed and skip over what is needed. If anyone has any advise or can help me in anyway, please contact me. The mgm. co. wants me to pay $450 per skylight and I have 7 of them.. In the by laws it says I am responsible for the windows and the management company wants to call the skylights windows but I do not agree and if anyone knows, please advise. If anyone knows anything about this or anything that would help me deal with the mgm. company, please advise. The Pres. of our Board won't take phone calls and I am homebound right now. I would be greatly appreciative of an answer. Thank you.
Does anyone remember the Cole-Sewell storm door warranty? I bought a Cole-Sewell storm door about 7-8 years ago. After approximately four (4) years the door developed some warping and cancer spots on the interior. Understanding that the door had a lifetime warranty, I called Cole-Sewell read them the serial number (from which they determined the manufacture date) and within two weeks they had sent me a new door. I thought- "hey great customer service - stand behind your product". Within 4 years of installing the replacement the new door developed the same problems - cancer spots on the interior (particularly around the bottom window seal. I called Cole-Sewell - However Cole-Sewell is now Pella - and they no longer seem to want to honor the original warranty that I had purchased with the door. I'd like to hold them to the original warranty. But I cannot locate the original paperwork. Any similar experiences out there with Pella?
