How do i remove glass from window for replacement? I have what I think is aluminum windows. looking at the window it has 2 sections, the top half and bottom half, bottom half being the part you slide to open. each half has six sections, pieces of glass divided by strips. I need to replace one piece and cannot figure how to remove the damaged one. I have gone over all the edges with a "blade" to remove any seal but it still doesn't budge. There are pieces on the exterior side that appear to "frame" the glass and possibly hold it in place, it doesn't look like any form of putty, it looks like plastic. I need to find out what that is and If i need to remove it and should i be able to reuse it.

Replacement vinyl? strips which are used in old aluminum windows to hold glass snap/seal (triangular shaped)? These are old aluminum windows with single pane glass held in and "caulked" using a gray colored vinyl/rubber type strip of material which is triangular shaped but has indented crevices so that the material snaps into place sealing the window pane. It is used instead of caulking. I don't know if it is a glazing strips. It is 5/16" by 3/8" by 1/2" and apparently could be cut into any length strips that you need. I have been unable to find it anywhere.
How do I replace an aluminum window sash? The window is an aluminum double pane energy star window. I shattered both panes of tempered glass in the top sash, so I need to replace the whole thing. Only the bottom sash moves. The glass guys were going to charge me like $300, but i saw I can order a replacement sash for like 50 at home depot. So should I do it myself? If so, how do I do it?
Is it better to get a replacement window (with frame) or just replace the glass? I have a double pane window that is many years old and very cheap (came with the house, maybe 1/32" panes). I want to change the windows because the noise from outside and nearby train is very easy to hear. The two options I have are: full replacement of the window with new vinyl frames to a double pane window (1/8", 1/8"+laminate+1/32") or just replace the double pane with something better (1/8", 1/8"+laminate+1/32"). The price difference is that the second option is about 25% less than getting it with brand new frames. Also the first option is with LowE3 and a super-spacer. The second option uses LowE2 and aluminum spacer. I am concerned that getting the second option, with just new windows and using my existing frames and panes (which are in decent condition) will not be sealed properly as the complete replacement. Any recommendations?
too much house humidity? I have brick house/ I installed new aluminum double glass (no argon) double pane windows, since my wooden single glass windows were getting humidity and water condensation in the winter time. Heat was set at 69 deg and was very warm in the house. Somehow moisture of the air is 20 % higher then my neighbors wooden frame house. I have no insulation in walls since it is only 3/4" spacing between brick and interio walls, made of plaster on top of wooden lattice. There is no insulation behind wooden molding on inside, as far as I know. New windows were only inserted as replacement and capped outside. ther is no moisture beteen panes, only on the glass from inside the house. Futher I installed bathroom fan as well as roofing fan. I did find out that there are no sofit holes but a solid wood, so there are no sofit holes. I do have air vents on the roof. I have a gas furnace. IF you have solution please explain so that I may understand. Can I spray foam in the basement at 3/4" spacing?
