Summary: the lower sash for glass replacement or window maintenance, unlock the sash lock and raise the sash approximately 1/3 of the window height. Tilt the sash inward. Grasp each sash stile (see fig. 4, figure 5). Push downward on one stile while lifting on the opposite stile. This should free one of the pivot bars from the balance
